Bobby Wallace
University of North Alabama / University of West Alabama
Wallace became
the first coach in college football history to win as many as 40
games in just three seasons when he led the University of North
Alabama to a 41-1 record and three straight NCAA Division II
National Championships from 1993-95.
He is also the only
coach in Division II to ever win three straight national
championships. Wallace led seven teams to Division II post-season
play, including West Alabama in 2009, marking the school's first
NCAA appearance since 1975. He was previously named Division II
Coach of the Quarter Century (1972-97).
Wallace has a 108-66-1 record coaching in Division
II, going 82-36-1 at North Alabama and 26-30 at West Alabama. His
playoff record of 14-4 is among the best in Division II history and
he was named Division II National Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994
and 1995. He was also selected Gulf South Conference Coach of the
Quarter Century (1971-95) and Division II Coach of the Quarter
Century (1972-97).
After UNA's third straight Division II National
Championship in 1995, the Lions were invited to the White House by
President Bill Clinton.
