DIVISION
II FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION
The Division II Football Hall of Fame
was created to honor athletes who have competed on the NCAA Division II
level since the division was created in 1973.
- A player must have played the
majority of his career, or the most significant portion (as
determined by the executive committee), in the NCAA Division
II (The school must have been an active member of the NCAA
Division II at the time the athlete competed.)
- The initial ballot will consist of
players nominated for the NCAA Division II Football Team of
the Quarter Century. Additional players may be nominated by
the sports information office at the NCAA Division II school that
they competed at.
- A player becomes eligible for
consideration, ten years after his last year of intercollegiate
football played.
- Each nominee's football achievements
on the collegiate level are the prime area of consideration, but the
selection will also take into account the player's
professional football career and post football life and
achievements.
- Players and coaches who are playing
or coaching on the professional level are not eligible until after
they retire.
- For the first three years, only
players will be considered for induction. In 2002, coaches,
etc. will be eligible for consideration. The total number of
selectees may then increase to four, (3 players and 1 coach or other
personnel.) as finances allow.
VOTING PROCEDURE
- The selection committee membership
will be determined by Hall of Fame co-chairmen.
- The selection committee will consist
of 22 people. Twelve of the committee members will be
permanent members, while the other 10 will rotate every three to
five years.
- Selection committee members will
annually be provided updated biographical data on all candidates for
their voting process.
- The selection committee will
then vote on ten candidates each year and those selections
will then be ranked and reviewed by the selection committee
chairmen.
